Yangon Street Map

MAY 2022 – we have walked all the streets of downtown again, and the map has been completely updated. We have not yet been back to Bogyoke Aung San Market, but that is next!

Here you have a street-by-street guide to downtown Yangon – with every north south street from Shwe Taung Tan to Thein Phyu individually mapped, and a search function (below or on the right) and a street index. It is a work in progress, and we have walked all the streets again in February and March 2022 to check for changes. Please let us know in the comments if we have made mistakes, or omitted something you think should be included.

This street-by-street map is NOT intended to be a directory of businesses, or even recommendations. We are not trying to replace Google maps, or any of the other lovely maps that exist (thank you, iDiscover ) – we want to supplement that information by pointing you to the right streets of downtown Yangon for the things you need. So, for example, on Shwe Bon Thar Street there are many many opticians in the blocks between Bogyoke Aung San Road and Mahabandoola, and if you wanted to repair your spectacles or buy new ones, this would be the place to start.

We also map all the wet and dry markets and some landmarks that are unlikely to move, so you can orient yourself.

The map is not in Bamar, though this page has been translated – see “The beginning – in Bamar”. We don’t think you locals need it, but if you do, let us know.
